Reports
【Reflection】
The seminar held on 26 June 2025 at the Singapore Pavilion served as an excellent opportunity to broadly communicate Singapore’s appeal and strengths as Asia’s largest conference city to Japanese stakeholders. With participation from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and industry leaders, concrete information was shared on advanced initiatives in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) sector as well as the integration of health and wellness.
It was highlighted that Singapore achieved a record-high tourism revenue of SGD 29.8 billion in 2024, with the number of visitors from Japan increasing significantly by 32% compared to the previous year, underscoring Singapore’s strong international presence. Furthermore, maintaining the top position in the Asia-Pacific “Conference City” rankings for 22 consecutive years reflects the high level of trust placed in Singapore by numerous companies and organisations.
During the panel discussion, Singapore’s well-developed infrastructure, ease of visa acquisition, Changi Airport’s excellent international connectivity, diverse venue options, and the government’s robust grant and support systems were introduced. These factors represent major reasons why Singapore is chosen as a gateway for Japanese companies expanding into the Asian market.
Additionally, the growing importance of the wellness sector was emphasised, with Singapore’s health and lifestyle facilities being naturally incorporated into business events, contributing to enhanced participant satisfaction. The insights also pointed out that adaptability to a multicultural business environment is a key to success, offering valuable knowledge for Japanese companies.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
Following the seminar, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and related organisations have continued to strengthen collaboration with Japanese business stakeholders and event organisers. They actively disseminate information about various grants and support services provided by the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau (SECB), assisting Japanese companies in smoothly organising MICE events in Singapore.
Additionally, emphasis is placed on sharing expertise for effective event management by leveraging Singapore’s advanced infrastructure and diverse venues. The integration of health and wellness elements into events is also being promoted to enhance participant experiences.
Going forward, support tailored to the multicultural business environment will continue, alongside efforts to promote environmentally sustainable event practices and strengthen community engagement. These initiatives aim to create lasting value beyond single events and increase Singapore’s recognition and trust as a strategic hub for Japanese companies expanding into Asia.
Such efforts are expected to further invigorate economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries and foster stronger partnerships. We will continue to work together to deliver high-quality business events and wellness experiences.
