【Reflection】
The 3rd AGEVITY Forum, supported by the Italian business association Assolombarda and the Silver Economy Network, served as an international platform for Japan and Italy—two countries facing similar demographic challenges—to exchange advanced knowledge and practical experience in addressing the realities of an ageing society. Centred on themes such as the “longevity economy” and “extending healthy life expectancy”, the forum showcased the latest initiatives across diverse fields, including regenerative medicine, AI and robotics, environmental measures, and community-based integrated care.

Particularly noteworthy were the presentations on research into joint cartilage regeneration using iPS cells, and practical case studies of AI-enabled community care. Discussions compared regional models from both Japanese and Italian research institutions and local authorities, paving the way for future possibilities in international collaboration.

One speaker remarked that “ageing is a sign of a mature society; the real task is to prepare for the future rather than viewing it as a problem.” This sentiment resonated strongly across the venue, encapsulating AGEVITY’s philosophy of seeing longevity as an opportunity rather than a crisis.

The forum brought together representatives from academia, industry, and government, enabling cross-sector dialogue that spanned academic, technological, and policy perspectives. By making the forum content publicly available online, a broader audience was encouraged to embrace a view of ageing society as a catalyst for innovation. This event served as a concrete demonstration of AGEVITY JAPAN’s guiding principles and marked a solid step towards further development.

【Post EXPO Initiatives】
The insights and networks developed through this forum now form a foundation for AGEVITY JAPAN’s ongoing activities. In particular, the active exchanges between academic institutions, local authorities, and professionals in the medical and welfare sectors from both Japan and Italy have strengthened the prospects for future collaboration in addressing the structural challenges of an ageing population.

Some speakers and participants also expressed their intention to continue fostering opportunities for joint research and knowledge-sharing, particularly in areas such as regenerative medicine, AI-enabled personalised healthcare, and community care. These discussions have begun to plant the seeds for concrete cooperation at the practical level.

Interest is also growing in applying research findings on “walkability” assessment—supported by AI—to policy and community initiatives in Japan. AGEVITY plans to explore this further in partnership with relevant institutions.

The importance of aligning longevity-related policy efforts within global frameworks, such as the G7, was also highlighted during the forum. In this regard, AGEVITY intends to expand its role in communicating expertise and making proposals to the international community. Related events in Europe and Asia are expected to provide further opportunities to build on the achievements of this forum.

AGEVITY JAPAN will continue to focus on its three core pillars of “Dialogue”, “Co-creation” and “Implementation”, viewing ageing as a symbol of societal progress and possibility, and contributing to the realisation of a sustainable longevity society through collaboration between government, academia, and industry.
