Ten years ago, the government launched a regional development initiative. Since then, various good examples have emerged throughout Japan, but these examples have not spread widely and have yet to change the declining population trend and the concentration of people in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Therefore, now is a good time when regional communities proactively combine their wisdom, discuss each other, and take action to create “enjoyable” local communities toward the realization of a hopeful and happy society. In this session, we will introduce good examples from around the country through panel discussion to launch the Regional Revitalization 2.0 initiatives for the next 10 years.
Reports
Four private companies that won prizes at the 4th Digital Denki Koshien (private company/organization category) took to the stage to discuss their leading-edge case studies and future regional revitalization efforts. The venue was filled to capacity, demonstrating the high expectations companies have for regional revitalization, and the event promoted understanding of regional revitalization, fostered momentum, and promoted future public-private collaboration.
Even after this program, the government will continue to promote awareness through support for local governments and discussions at various events, etc., in accordance with the "Regional Revitalization 2.0 Basic Plan" approved by the Cabinet on June 13, 2025, with the aim of realizing a sustainable society where everyone can live happily, safely and securely, whether in urban or rural areas, and "fun rural areas" that are chosen by young people and women.
