【Reflection】
JTC organised a three-day programme at the Singapore Pavilion to showcase Singapore’s experience in driving smart and sustainable innovation districts. Through keynote presentations and panel discussions with industry experts, the team delved into how JTC fosters thriving startup ecosystems and adopts a whole-life approach in the planning, design, development and management of next-generation innovation districts. Our event brought together close to 150 entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and government professionals to exchange ideas, highlight best practices, and forge partnerships that advance future-ready industrial ecosystems. The Japanese stakeholders expressed strong interest in Singapore's development approach, particularly JTC's strategies in fostering innovation ecosystems and implementing sustainability initiatives.
Several organisations, including Shimizu, Nikken Sekkei, MLIT, Azbil, as well as JTC's newly onboarded corporate partners - Takenaka, NTT Docomo Ventures, Hankyu Hanshin Properties - were keen to explore more collaboration opportunities with JTC. The warm reception and keen interest shown by stakeholders from both Singapore and Japan highlight the significant potential for deeper, long-term bilateral cooperation.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
This event allowed JTC to connect with new companies and strengthen our relationships with Singapore-based firms operating in Japan, as well as our Japanese partners. There were also many opportunities for collaboration identified from this business exchange, including:
- Collaborating with Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism under the newly signed MOU
- Actively engaging with prospective and JTC's newly onboarded LINK members to facilitate meaningful partnerships with JTC LaunchPad’s startups
- Adopting Japanese stakeholders' sustainability initiatives to incorporate into JTC's sustainability plans
- Exploring potential node-to-node collaboration opportunities with Station Ai
- Strengthening Japan-Singapore partnership and facilitate cross-sharing of knowledge and industry best practices in the area of sustainability, mixed use development, and startup ecosystem building
