On Friday, June 13th, the Cabinet approved the "Regional Revitalization 2.0 Basic concept," and Regional Revitalization 2.0 has begun, based on the results and challenges of the past 10 years of regional revitalization efforts. Now that new efforts have begun, it is important for regions to pool their wisdom, think for themselves, take action, create regions that people find "fun," and aim to realize a society where people can feel hope and happiness. In this session, we will introduce four excellent examples from various regions that won the Prime Minister's Award and other awards in the judging committee selection category at the 4th "Digiden Koshien" in a panel discussion format, with a view to realizing Regional Revitalization 2.0 over the next 10 years.

Reports

【Reflection】
In this panel discussion, practitioners from four outstanding initiatives—each of which received the Prime Minister’s Award or other honors in the Jury’s Selection category at the 4th “Digi-den Koshien”—were invited to present their work. They shared advanced examples from both enterprises and local governments, and engaged in discussions on future approaches to regional revitalization.

The venue was filled to capacity, underscoring the high level of public expectation for corporate contributions to regional revitalization. The event also contributed to promoting understanding, fostering momentum, and encouraging future initiatives that bring together both the public and private sectors.

【Post EXPO Initiatives】
Even after this program, the government continues to work toward the vision outlined in the Basic Policy for Regional Revitalization 2.0, which was approved by the Cabinet on June 13, 2025. Based on this policy, our goal is to create a sustainable society where everyone—whether in urban or rural areas—can live happily, safely, and securely. At the same time, we aim to build “fun and attractive regions” that are appealing to young people and women.

To promote this vision, we are holding forums in five locations across Japan to showcase leading local initiatives and inspire broader public engagement. Alongside these forums, we are also providing financial support to local governments through grant programs, while actively raising awareness through lectures and other outreach activities at various events.
