Programme details
The event includes an interactive exchange of opinions on future decarbonized regional development through panel discussions by the national government, local governments, companies, etc. on advanced initiatives including Decarbonization Leading Areas which aim to achieve net zero by FY2030. In session 1, we invite practitionaers working on decarbonizing cities and transportation and have a dialogue on future decarbonized regional development.

Representative Director, Virtue Design, Visiting Professor, Faculty of Liberal Arts, University of Tokyo, Specially Invited Professor, Keio University, Member of Evaluation Committee for Decarbonization Leading Areas, Ministry of the Environment, Japan
After working for an IT company and a US investment bank, she joined Mitsubishi UFI Morgan Stanley Securities in 2000 and engaged in carbon credit business and environmental finance consultancy. She has specialized in sustainable management, sustainable finance, GX policy, and environmental business, and established an incorporated association in September 2021 to engage in regional development and sustainable business building.

Keita Suzuki
Director, Office for Regional Decarbonization, Regional Environment Office in Kinki, Ministry of the Environment
He is a Director, Office for Regional Decarbonization in Kinki, and tackling to the deployment of renewable energy and contribute to the realization of Decarbonization Leading Areas.
Since joining the Ministry of the Environment in 2007, he was assigned various teams such as the revision of the Environmental Impact Assessment Law, establishment of the Nuclear Regulation Authority, regional revitalization in Minamata area, coordination of climate change measures including setting greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for FY2030, and the Delegation of Japan to the European Union.

Naoto Otani
Manager for Energy Policy, Environmental Policy Department, Environment Bureau, Osaka City
Since joining Osaka City government in 1992, Mr. Otani engaged in various roles including instructional duties related to food hygiene and environmental hygiene, regulatory tasks within the environmental conservation sector, including industrial waste disposal permits and countermeasures for traffic noise, soil contamination and water quality preservation.
Starting in April 2025, Mr. Otani is in charge of Manager for Energy Policy, overseeing various duties related to creatiing and saving energy, including initiatives in Decarbonization Leading Area.

Mariko Shirafuji
YANMAR HOLDINGS Co.,LTD.
She joined Yanmar as the first female career-track position.
After working in accounting for two business units for 19 years, she moved to the human resources department at the head office.
In 2020, she became the President and Representative Director of Yanmar Symbiosis, a special subsidiary of the Yanmar Group.
She assumed her current position in July 2024 and she is responsible for promoting sustainability throughout the group.

Yamato Transport Co., Ltd Managing Executive Officer Responsible for Green Innovation Development
Joined Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. in April 1987. After serving as the Chitose Branch Manager from April 2003, held various positions including Director of Business Reform, Director of Network Business Development, and Director of Facilities Management. Since October 2021, has been serving as Executive Officer and Director of Green Innovation Development, and from April 2025, will hold the position of Managing Executive Officer Responsible for Green Innovation Development.

Hanshin Electric Railway Co., Ltd. Urban Transportation Business Headquarters Electrical Department Deputy General Manager and Power Section Manager
Joined Hanshin Electric Railway in 2000. After working on the design and construction management of railway signaling and communication equipment, he worked in two group companies, managing cable television equipment and in the solutions business proposing systems to customers. He returned to Hanshin Electric Railway in April 2023 and is in charge of railway electrical equipment and carbon neutral measures.
