Reports
【Reflection】
The Automotive World Seminar, held at Makuhari Messe for three days from Wednesday, September 17 to Friday, September 19, 2025, provided a valuable opportunity to share insights on the latest technologies and market trends in the automotive industry.
Of particular interest was the panel discussion on the theme of “Green Innovation Fund Project: Progress in All-Solid-State Battery Development and Future Challenges.” Representatives from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), Honda R&D Co., Ltd., and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. took the stage and engaged in a lively discussion on the current status and future prospects of next-generation battery technology.
Mazda also gave a presentation on “Body Structure Bonding Technology for Weight Reduction and High Functionality,” which attracted considerable interest as a new approach to vehicle body design.
Furthermore, the “BYD EV Structure & Cost Analysis Seminar,” held with the cooperation of MarkLines Co., Ltd., featured presentations focusing on the e-Axle (electric axle) installed in the latest vehicles from Chinese EV manufacturer BYD.
The seminar covered the following themes, complemented by displays of actual components, to deepen participants' understanding:
Latest Trends and Market Outlook for e-Axle
Structure and Cost Analysis of the BYD U8 e-Axle
Structure Explanation of the Song Plus DM-i Motor & Reduction Gear
Detailed Structure and Cost Composition of the Inverter
Additionally, the concurrently held “SDV Forum X,” co-hosted by four organizations—AUTOSAR, COVESA, AGL, and JASPAR—shared the latest trends and approaches to solving challenges related to Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs). Experts from major domestic and international companies, including Denso, Panasonic, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Bosch, presented on diverse themes such as AUTOSAR's open strategy, the SDV ecosystem, OSS utilization, AI-based development, and the latest trends in Europe.
Additionally, a networking party aimed at fostering connections among SDV engineers was held. Many engineers participated in this casual gathering, which transcended corporate and organizational boundaries.
This seminar and forum served as an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of knowledge sharing and collaboration among engineers within the automotive industry, where electrification and software integration are rapidly advancing. Automotive World will continue to provide opportunities for disseminating cutting-edge industry information and facilitating networking.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
The Automotive World Concurrent Seminars and SDV Forum X held at Makuhari Messe in September concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from many industry professionals.
Carrying that momentum forward, the next Automotive World Nagoya will be held at Port Messe Nagoya from Wednesday, October 29 to Friday, October 31, 2025.
The Nagoya event will feature over 120 seminars, with presentations from leading domestic and international companies including Mazda, Suzuki, Honda, Nissan, Denso, and Panasonic. Covering cutting-edge industry themes such as carbon neutrality, electrification, SDVs, and generative AI, this is a valuable opportunity to gain practical insights available only here.
Notable seminar programs include:
Open Seminar on Chinese EV & Tesla In-Vehicle Software (in cooperation with MarkLines)
Generative AI World: Latest Trends in Generative AI Applications for the Automotive Industry, ChatGPT Integration, RAG, LLM, etc.
AI Table: AI Application Cases and Technical Explanations for Vehicle Development & Manufacturing
Model-Based Development Forum (Co-hosted by JAMBE): Latest MBD Cases and Solutions Essential for the SDV Era
W-Engineer MeetUP: Seminar & Networking Event Focused on Women Engineers' Careers and Challenges
Furthermore, the exhibition hall will feature a disassembled display of Tesla's Cybertruck and China's AVATR. This is a rare chance to see and learn about actual components like e-Axles, motors, reducers, and inverters up close.
The Nagoya Exhibition is also an ideal venue for business negotiations and technical exchanges with automakers and parts suppliers in the Chubu and Kinki regions.
