We will exchange knowledge and find solutions to issues with the aim of empowering women.

In this session 3, we focus on the 8 fields -education, politics, local region, women’s career, entrepreneurship, family, health and sustainability. From all these fields, we can exchange voices for knowledge sharing. As a special guest, Teruko Kobayashi, a beauty expert, will perform a fashion make-up show. Instead of separating between audiences and speakers on the stage, all participants can become “WA”, in a circle together, aiming to make greater progress. People from all over the world also can join online.

【Reflection】
This was the final session of "WA812," and brought together a diverse group of leaders from the fields of "sustainability (agriculture, manufacturing)," "beauty/health," and human resource development. The speakers and participants exchanged many opinions and, together with facilitator Shoko Hanyu, made a declaration of action.
The session began with presentations from the "100 Voices" survey, conducted by students from Ochanomizu University, the University of Tokyo, and King's College in the UK. Tomoko Shinkai spoke about agriculture and women, while Naoko Yamada spoke about femtech, highlighting current issues and making proposals.
The latter half of the session saw a lively "knowledge share" between attendees. Participants raised their hands and declared on stage what they considered to be their areas of expertise. At the same time, they called out to the audience to find "someone with the skills and abilities they need right now," and then engaged in a relay talk. The four people who took part were Chikako Morimoto, Minako Akioka, Mitsuya Kakihata, and Kayoko Miki.
By declaring their strengths, knowledge connections is shared and can be used to help others. This repetition of the process has become a successful example of a baton being passed on to female leaders.
Finally, Teruko Kobayashi, beauty researcher and representative of Aoyama Beauty Academy's high school, gave a lecture on "Japanese Women: Inner Beauty and History." Using evocative photographs, she explained the history that Japanese women have carried and followed. She offered plenty of advice on how to express inner confidence and beauty in the current Reiwa era. Her lively delivery, although she is 90 years old, surprised and resonated with many women.
The event concluded with a fashion show by students from Aoyama Beauty Academy High School, showcasing "Japanese beauty in the Reiwa era." From costume design to makeup and model production, the next generation of high school students created the show, successfully reaching out to all generations and the world.
【Post EXPO Initiatives】
There were two main learnings from this session that we would like to continue working on even after the Expo.
The first is the "knowledge sharing" method. This is an initiative that we would like to establish in society as a system for continuing to empower women, rather than as a temporary opportunity at the Expo.
This is because Expo WA812 was a successful first step in dialogue that transcends fields, generations, gender, and borders. I believe the engine needed to continue this is a positive reaction of people declaring, "I can do this!"
As Ms. Teruko Kobayashi mentioned in her lecture in the second half, Japanese women are accustomed to taking the first step, as "humility" is considered a virtue. However, by declaring, "I can do this!", new connections are born. At the same time, it also serves as practice for asking for help and cooperation by saying, "This is what I want right now!" I would like to see this network-building version of "Give & Take" put to good use in developing corporate leaders.
Finally, the status of women in Japan's beauty industry is still low, lagging the rest of the world. Artists in fields such as fashion and makeup are recognized overseas for their cultural contributions, and their status and income are elevated. However, I learned that Japan's beauty industry still has a long way to go. I keenly felt that it is necessary to develop female leaders in the beauty industry from various perspectives, including culture, history, knowledge, and leadership.
