Dialogue on Life
EXPO 2025 Thematic Project “Invigorating Lives” (Producer NAKAJIMA Sachiko)
Shall we embark on a journey to explore the essential skills, creativity, and the deeper meanings of life and festivals for the future, along with the increasing importance of physicality? We'll delve into why music, dance, traditional arts, and festivals, combined with the concept of being truly 'alive,' are central to the thematic project 'Invigorating Lives.' This dialogue, presented in both English and Japanese, will reach out to the world, weaving together diverse and indigenous cultures, and fostering a rich, multi-faceted discussion, to convert various "divisions" into "co-creations" in the world. Let’s dive into these profound questions and discover why we sing and dance.

Programme details
Under the theme "Peace and Human Rights," the project "Invigorating Lives" (Signature Pavilion "Playground of Life: Jellyfish Pavilion") explores the essence of matsuri/festivals, why people sing and dance, and the relationship between art and life. What is a matsuri? Why did festivals, performing arts, songs, dances, and music come into existence? The concepts of "Hare" and "Ke". Crafts and performing arts in daily life...
On August 9th, we observe International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. The world is divided by various races, cultures, and histories, including indigenous peoples, and factors such as disabilities, gender, nationality, family environment, region, characteristics, illnesses, religion, and politics. This division leads to conflicts and even "unintentional" discrimination and bullying. At first glance, these minority issues and peace challenges may seem unrelated to festivals, performing arts, and crafts, but there is something vital that connects them at their core. Through the lens of various cultures, we aim to explore the current state of social and corporate cultures as well.
