EXPO2025 Theme Weeks

Programme details

Amid Japan’s declining population, there is a growing need to build a society where all individuals can fully demonstrate their abilities without being constrained by gender. To realize a society in which the younger generation—who will shape the future—can choose diverse lifestyles regardless of gender, it is essential to focus on their awareness of gender roles.
A recent survey revealed that among men in their 20s and 30s, the belief that 'women should support men in the workplace' remains deeply rooted. In contrast, a record-high proportion of women envision a future of employment without marriage, highlighting both a gap and a shift in gender-related perceptions.
This session will feature expert analysis of these survey results, offering multifaceted insights into the background and factors influencing young people’s attitudes. The aim is to encourage society as a whole to reconsider gender-based role divisions and to promote future awareness-raising efforts and initiatives.
