How the global sustainability strategy should reinforce investments at the local/regional level and, conversely, how local actions impact international efforts. The need for island voices to be heard will be emphasized.
The Symposium will discuss how the targeted application of emerging technologies and new practices have raised the standard of living of fishers. It will also feature discussion on development and conservation measures based on available science and the need to invest in local capacity-building to improve livelihoods. Finally, the event would provide thoughts on international partnerships and their catalytic role towards achieving global goals, including the SDGs.
The targeted audience will consist of local environment stakeholders, developing agencies, empowerment institutions, academics and Small Island Developing States policy makers.
