Qatar’s Path to a Sustainable Future: The Multifaceted Scope of National Environmental Strategy

This programme, presented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the State of Qatar, has been specially designed in the spirit of the Week on the Future of the Planet and Biodiversity.
It introduces Qatar’s vision of a sustainable future in harmony with nature, through a series of short films.
The topics range from the conservation and restoration of biodiversity and natural habitats to urgent global issues such as climate change, and the establishment of robust, science-based systems for environmental management.
Each film, lasting around three minutes, condenses the essence of its theme into an engaging format.
Visitors are first invited to experience these films, before deepening their understanding through open questions and dialogue.
Even within this concise format, the programme links the various fields together, aiming to foster awareness and a shared sense of responsibility for a sustainable future.

Programme details
*The theme varies depending on the date. Each session lasts around 30 minutes and will be held several times during the day.
Section 1: Al Reem Nature Reserve (18-19 Sept.)
An introduction to the rich biodiversity of Qatar’s terrestrial and marine habitats, and the efforts to protect them. It offers an opportunity to reflect on the importance of living in harmony with nature.
Section 2: Climate Change (20-21 Sept.)
Centred on the National Climate Change Action Plan, this section presents Qatar’s challenge of advancing towards a low-carbon society. It provides insights into both progress and remaining challenges.
Section 3: Al Thakhira Mangroves (22-23 Sept.)
Highlighting the conservation of coastal ecosystems and the regeneration of mangrove forests, this film illustrates the significance of sustainable natural resource management.
Section 4: Environmental Data Monitoring (24-25 Sept.)
An overview of the monitoring and analysis of environmental data such as air and water quality, underscoring the importance of evidence-based environmental management.
