Reports

【Reflection】
The EXPO2025 JPO-WIPO AWARD, which took place during this forum, honored companies that leverage IP to design a better future in areas such as climate change and women’s empowerment. In addition, a launch event was held for the Expo special edition of the Green Technology Book published by WIPO(World Intellectual Property Organization). Panel discussions were also held on topics such as approaches taken toward climate change that utilize intellectual property, and promoting empowerment of a broad range of human resources, including women, in the field of intellectual property.
At the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which serves as a platform for achieving the SDGs by 2030, executives from the JPO(Japan Patent Office), WIPO(World Intellectual Property Organization), and overseas intellectual property offices gathered to address social issues that contribute toward the achievement of the SDGs through intellectual property, as well as to communicate Japan’s stance and contributions both domestically and internationally. JPO believes that this gathering represents a milestone toward achieving the SDGs. As a result of this forum, we published the “EXPO2025 IP Message,” which touched upon the need for development and business support for developing countries, particularly regarding WIPO GREEN.

【Post EXPO Initiatives】
Following this forum, JPO will implement business matching support measures and broaden the base of involvement in WIPO GREEN, leading to an increase in successful matching and technology transfer cases.
Additionally, JPO is planning to hold career seminars to promote the participation of women and youth in the intellectual property ecosystem.
Furthermore, JPO will strive to strengthen collaboration with intellectual property offices around the world while disseminating the contents of the “EXPO2025 IP Message.
