Programme details
This event aims to explore how manga and anime, distinctive elements of Japanese pop culture, merge with Dominican cultural contexts, contributing to the co-creation of diverse cultures and new forms of expression. Additionally, it will offer an exciting journey through the world of animation, addressing its current situation, the challenges it faces, and the opportunities that this ninth art presents in the Dominican Republic.
The graphic novel Palma Sola by Litevisual Studios, which won the bronze category in the XIII International Manga Awards 2020, organized by the Government of Japan, will be showcased. This achievement positions the Dominican Republic as the first country in the Caribbean and Central America to win this award.
The event will also feature the participation of the Ministry of Culture and the General Directorate of Film, influential figures from the world of animation and art in the Dominican Republic, as well as comic book production houses, editorial illustration, and animation.
